Tile and grout cleaning

Tile and grout cleaning is cheaper and more convenient than replacing tiles and will dramatically improve the appearance of any tiled area affected by years of wear and tear.

Dudley's tile and grout cleaning involves three efficient steps:

Surface is pre-treated through application of a suitable Aqua Mix chemical product that is left to 'dwell' for up to 40 minutes to allow loosening of accumulated dirt and grease.
Stubborn dirt is loosened by agitation with a low RPM scrubber, with brush or natural fibre pad selected to suit the particular surface.
Turbo clean surface to remove solution along with the dirt: A turbo-powered rinse and vacuum removes all the solution from the tile surface.

On client request, our technicians can use powered fan blowers to significantly reduce drying time.

Tile and grout cleaning will remove many surface stains including ink, crayon, marker pen, waxes, oil, grease, mildew, algae, grout haze and efflorescence.

Stone Restoration

Stone restoration involves advanced cleaning techniques and processes that remove deep set stains and scratches from natural stone.

Honing:
Most tile surfaces, especially natural stone, tend to become scratched in high traffic areas. This scratching dulls the tile appearance and allows dirt and grime build-up. Through the use of fine grain powder and a natural fibre pad, the surface of natural tiles can be honed to remove most scratches. The natural gloss of the tile is restored and future cleaning is simplified. This process also removes acid etching marks caused by any acidic substance, such as wine or general cleaners, eating into the natural tile's surface.

Re-polishing:
Over time tiles of natural material, such as marble and limestone, lose their shine and appear dull. Polishing will restore their natural gloss.

Stain removal:
Where deep set stains require additional care, Dudley's technicians apply an Aqua Mix Poultice; we enjoy a challenge and take the approach that no stain is a problem.

Stone Stripping and Sealing

Most tile and stone is easily stained and with constant exposure to water will be affected by efflorescence. Sealing is an effective way to make tiles stain resistant and protect them from fading. It also makes day-to-day cleaning easier and can be used to enhance the look of a tile, while providing additional protection from mildew and algae.

There are three types of sealer:

Surface (Topical) sealer: This is the more commonly used sealing and is accomplished by applying a sealer that forms a thin coat over the tile. It provides the tiles with a higher gloss finish and allows for easy day-to-day mopping. Surface sealers provide maximum protection, but require frequent removal (stripping) and re-sealing. It has limitations and should not be used on surfaces that are subject to standing water.
Penetrating (Impregnating) sealer: This sealing forms a film below the surface of the tile, leaving a natural look while providing the staining resistance required. It does not need to be removed to apply additional coats in the future. This sealing is ideal for around a swimming pool, in bathrooms, showers and exterior tiles.
Enrich & Seal: This is an enhanced penetrating sealer which is formulated to enrich and highlight the character of natural stone. It rejuvenates the colour and improves the appearance of the stone.

After a surface has been re-stored, we offer a range of sealing solutions to provide stain resistance and easier ongoing maintenance.

Grout Sealing and Colorant

Clean tiles can still appear dirty with dirty grout lines and some grout lines cannot be cleaned with general cleaning. Grout sealing is an effective way to ensure grout lines stay cleaner longer and are easier to maintain. Grout colorant is an effective grout sealer which provides more colour options for grout lines.
